Best time to visit Kareri

Although the lake remains frozen for a large portion of the year, the beauty and serenity are still worth experiencing in the winter months. If you’re looking for something tranquilly in the winter, though, Kareri also provides that to the max. A wonderful weekend trek experience is from March to July (i.e., pre-monsoon season) and then again from September to December (before cold temperatures).

It’s best to skip the monsoon season because it’s difficult to navigate the mountains during that time.

Attractions at Kareri Lake 

An ancient temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Shakti is one of the major attractions near Kareri Lake. Set on a hilltop, this fantastic temple overlooks the breathtakingly beautiful lake.

You can find a few Gujjars and Gaddis on the other side of the lake, living in neighbouring villages. They use the Kareri Lake’s extensive pasturelands as a grazing ground for their cattle.
